Last Christmas I got a lovely surprise from John, big J and little J, they bought me a gorgeous photobook. I wasn't expecting it and it is so lovely but there is one problem little J loves it so much that I never get to look at it long enough before it's snatched from my hands.

I don't know what it is about my photobook that little J likes so much. Is it the photos or that it's a book? When Love2Read gave us the chance to create a book I knew straight away that we would make one for little J and we could make it all about his favourite person, his big brother.

Love2Read is a unique reading experience, it's a book were you choose the words and the photographs.

It was really easy to create the book online. First you choose which book you want to make. There are so many choices, we chose My Brother.

Each book contains a front cover photograph which is the first four photographs in the book.

On the inside cover is This book belongs to...

 Every page starts with My brother and you fill in the blanks

  and you choose the photographs to match your caption.

 Each book can fit nine photographs. Just enough and little J loves each and every one of them

We did a mixture of portrait and landscape photographs

Keywords from your book are written towards the back of the book. Little J will soon know how to say and spell brother :)

On the back page is thumbnails of all the photographs you have added.

When it arrived I was so pleased because the quality of the photographs were really good. The book was a nice size for little J and it was a lovely blue colour which instantly caught his eye, that and the photos.

 Big brother J had a look too

and read about just how much fun he is :)

The aim of each book is to help your child develop a love of reading. It does this by presenting photographs which reflect your child's world and relating them to simple words. 

Research shows that if your child loves books they will learn to read much faster and you will be encouraging a lifelong love of reading.

The key words in each book are known as high frequency words which are some of the first words your child will be taught to recognise when they start school. As they start to recognise these key words on sight (also know as the 'look and say' method of learning) their confidence builds.
