In The Night Garden Party At Alton Towers

A few weeks ago little J got his first ever birthday party invite. It was so exciting as it was to celebrate the first anniversary of the In The Night Garden Boat Ride in CBeebies Land at Alton Towers.

Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and Little J blowing kisses

We decided to visit the resort for the whole weekend and booked a two night stay at the Alton Towers Hotel which you can read about here.

Its Party Time

When we arrived at the Hospitality Suite we were greeted by a doorway made of balloons and a huge sign telling us the party was inside. Little J who is a huge fan of In The Night Garden was very excited especially when he saw the huge photo of Iggle Piggle.

The Party Room

The Entertainment Staff were great with the kids

The large room was decorated with round tables, balloons, and lots of fun activities for the children to join in with. There was a large garden area in the centre of the room surrounded my a little white fence. Little J ran straight over to have a peek at what was going on. Once he saw a huge inflatable ball he squealed as a ball is his favourite thing at the moment. He played football with one of the entertainers while some of the guest were still arriving.

Playing ball

Oh no he's spotted Iggle Piggle

Little J gatecrashing Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy's entrance.

Once the clock struck 11am the party began and we were joined by Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy. Little J pushed his way through the crowd of children and ran straight over to Iggle Piggle to give him a big hug. I felt so sorry for the other children who were stood watching from a distance but I couldn't stop him he was gone in seconds and to be honest it was so cute.

Lots of hugs and kisses for his two favourite characters

Once Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy had waved hello to all the children they walked over to a photo spot where they stayed for the duration of party. This was perfect as all the children got to join the queue and have a photo opportunity and a quick hug.

We decided to take little J over straight away as he loves them so much so we knew he would want to visit them more than once. We were right we ended up going the queue twice so he could have a hug and a kiss with them both. Again it was so cute, he was blowing Upsy Daisy kisses and kissed them both too.

Story Time

There was lots of fun activities to do around the garden area and the entertainment team kept the children busy by dancing, telling a story and playing games.

Little J made some rocks over by Makka Pakka and he decorated them with pretty jewels. He also made a bauble which we filled with beads so when you shake it, it makes a rattling noise.

Little J joined in with the dancing and games too and he really enjoyed being around the other children.

Yummy food

After all the fun and games it was time for some food. There was so much choice. Burgers, hotdogs, vegetarian, pasta and salad. I had some pasta and salad and it was delicious. Big and little J enjoyed a burger and some juice.

Once we had finished eating it was time to sing happy birthday and Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy joined us on the main garden area. A huge In The Night Garden Cake was brought out and we all helped to blow out the candle. The cake was absolutely gorgeous and we all got a yummy piece to take home too.

After we had sang Happy Birthday Iggle Piggle was presented with a Guinness World Record Certificate.

IN THE NIGHT GARDEN’S IGGLEPIGGLE UNFURLS ENORMOUS POLAR FLEECE BLANKET AT ALTON TOWERS RESORT FOR GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ TITLE

Made by Dreamtex Ltd, who manufacture the In the Night Garden Home Textile Collection, the record-busting blanket measures in at 98.8m sq. A Guinness World Records Adjudicator verified the new Guinness World Records title, presenting Igglepiggle with an official certificate to mark the achievement.

The giant blanket has been lovingly made by Dreamtex as a recreation of Igglepiggle’s favourite possession using red fleece material, blue stitching and clear thread.  With a normal children’s blanket measuring 120cm x 150cm, the blanket would be enough to cover 56 standard children’s beds.   It took the team just 8 days to make, weighs 20kg and used 70m of thread around the outside of the blanket.

After we celebrated Iggle Piggle's Guinness World Record it was time to say goodbye as the party had come to an end.

Little J loves his Iggle Piggle Teddy from his goody bag.

Little J received a goody bag filled to the brim with In The Night Garden goodies and he loves everything especially the book and also the Iggle Piggle Teddy.

Little J had so much fun and the party was amazing. It was a really special day that I know we will never forget.
