Disney On Ice Silver Anniversary Celebration Review

We were really excited about seeing Disney On Ice Silver Silver Anniversary especially after watching the Worlds Of Enchantment show in Manchester last year. This time it was in the Liverpool Echo Arena so a lot closer to home but we had tickets to an evening show so I wasn't sure little J would stay awake.

When the lights went down you could see the children waving their flashing lights waiting in anticipation for the show to start. In skated Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy and shortly after Goofy.

They were going on an adventure and had four destinations in mind, first up was Africa to the home of The Lion King.

I love The Lion King, both the film and the stage show so I was really looking forward to this. It didn't disappoint. The choreography and skating from Simba and Nala was beautiful.

Next up was Peter Pan. We followed Wendy, Michael and John as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell whisked them away to Neverland. They flew across the arena as the children all gasped with excitement. Once in Neverland Captain Hook and Smee where there too and the Lost boys too.

Little J screamed ' Dinosaur' as Tick Tock chased Captain Hook around the ice.

There was a twenty minute break which was enough time to go the toilet and grab some refreshments. There were little stalls dotted around the inside of the arena and also staff walking up and down the steps trying to sell Snow Cones, Candy Floss and Popcorn as well as flashing lights, hats and programmes. We have been to many Disney On Ice shows so we knew just how expensive the refreshments are so we brought our own.

We did however treat little J to a flashing light up spinning wand. It was a whopping £15. The prices of the flashing lights and toys are absolutely crazy, especially if you have more than one child to buy for.

We were asked by a member of the arena if we would like to have our photo taken with Elsa. This caused quite a stir as little girls dressed as Elsa ran to the spot to have their photo taken with the Ice queen however it was really disappointing for them as they were faced with a cardboard cut out. They were charging £10 for this. We gave it a miss.

Next up was a shorter version of The Little Mermaid than we had seen before.  For me this felt like a filler before the Frozen part of the show.

So last but not least the ice rink was transformed in to Arendelle. Most of the little girls were dressed as either Anna or Elsa so there was a huge buzz around the arena as the Frozen part of the show started.

Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Hans and Olaf were all perfect on the ice and watching as they skated along to Love is an open door and Let it Go had the whole audience singing along.

As the snowstorm fell from the sky within the arena and the use of pyrotechnics as Elsa starts to understand her powers had the audience hooked until the end of the show.

We were lucky to have a VIP Meet and Greet with Mickey and Minnie which was definitely one of our highlights.

What We Loved

Watching Peter Pan and The Lion King - We haven't seen these on the ice before.

Costumes were amazing as always.

The skating - perfect and didn't see one wrong move.

What Could Improve

The prices for refreshments. It really is so expensive and especially when buying for more than one child.

*****

I would highly recommend Disney On Ice to any fans of Disney as the whole production is so magical and children and adults of all ages will enjoy it. For me personally this wasn't the best Disney On Ice we have seen but I am looking forward to the next.

There is still chance to see the show as it is touring through April and May so check out the website to buy tickets at an arena near you.
