Review | Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab

For the past few months little J has absolutely loved creating potions in the shower and bath. He mixes all the shower gels, bath bombs and bubble baths in to old shampoo containers. It's made bath time fun again for him since he outgrew his old bath toys. He loves watching the colours of the different gels mix together, different textures and watching the bath bombs fizz. I actually said to John that we should look into getting him a little science set because he finds it fascinating. I recently was introduced to a new range of toys that would be perfect, Beaker Creatures from Learning Resources.

You know we are huge fans of blind bags and collectibles and Beaker Creatures are just that. Little J absolutely loves collecting all sorts of things through various blind bags and surprise eggs. The thing I personally like about Beaker Creatures is they are not just an unwrap and collect toy they have to be hatched. All Beaker Creatures come inside an egg called a Reactor Pod and you have to hatch the egg to reveal which creature you have inside.

We received the Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab to try and little J loved it.  It was a very simple setup and within a few minutes we were ready to play, we just needed water.

The idea behind the Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab is that you use the lab to hatch your creatures. The set is really easy to use. First we popped a  Beaker Creature Reactor Pod in the plastic beaker then pushed down the plungers that we had pre-filled with water to fill the beaker. We then sat back and watched as the Beaker Creature began to hatch.

After a second or two the the water began to fizz just like a bath bomb. Little J really enjoyed waiting for the water to change colour and watching the bubbling water until his Beaker Creature was revealed.

Little J really got into the role of a mini scientist. He used the tweezers to pick up the pod and pop into the water and then also to retrieve his creature. He enjoyed filling the beakers full of water, using the plungers then waiting for the pods to react to the water. He looked like a proper scientist.

The Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab set comes with two reactor pods and you can buy extra pods to extend your collection.  Also inside the Super Lab set is lots of science experiment ideas that you can do at home.

You can find out more about Beaker Creatures by visiting Learning Resources and they are available to buy at most good toy stores and online
