Last week we headed in to town to for lunch at Turtle Bay. This was our first ever visit to Turtle Bay so we were not sure what to expect. Little J is quite a fussy eater but as they had just updated their kids menu we were keen to give it a try.
On arrival it was very clear that Turtle Bay is a Caribbean Restaurant as the decor is very bright and colourful. We were shown to our table and given a variety of menus. There was a main menu with a lighter bites / lunch option, a kids menu and also a set menu.
The kids menu is split in to two. There is a Tiny Turtles menu and a Bigger Turtles menu. Both menus include Hummus & smashed avocado with carrot, cucumber, red pepper, and flatbread dippers on arrival and a soft drink.
Little J chose off the Tiny Turtles menu and I was actually every impressed in the choice available.
Flatbread Pizza with the choice of Chicken and Cheese, Flaked Salmon or Cheese and Fresh Tomato.
Turtle Wraps again with the choice of Chicken and Cheese or Fresh Avocado, Red Pepper, Cheese & Chickpeas.
Sweetcorn fritters,
Grilled Chicken
or Little J's choice a Bay Burger.
I would love him to be a little more adventurous but he is quite happy having just a cheeseburger.
Once ordered we were given some counters and dice to play snakes and ladders and dominoes. I loved this. Its a great way to keep the little ones entertained while waiting for the food to arrive rather than them sitting playing on a tablet or phone.
Little J's cheeseburger arrived and even though it was from the Tiny Turtles menu it was quite a decent sized portion.
I will say that I just assumed the burger would arrive well done but it was quite pink in places, so next time I would ask for it to be cooked so that there is no red meat.
Little J really enjoyed it. The fries were 'normal fries' different to those on the adult menu.
We ate from the lunch 'n' later menu and everything was really good. We ordered garlic flatbread duck rolls and jerk chicken wings to start between the four of us. It was plenty to share and we didn't manage to eat it all.
For mains we ordered two Street Burgers. One with dirty curry fries and one with cheesy jerk fries. The cheesy jerk fries came as sweet potato fries so big J didn't enjoy them at all. We did check the menu and it didn't say they were cheesy jerk sweet potato fries so not sure what happened. We didn't say anything at the time but I wish we had.
I ordered the Hallo Halloumi burger with portobello mushroom and it was amazing. It was the first time I have ever tried Halloumi, so glad I did.
Overall our food was delicious and the prices were very reasonable.
Starters are pick any 3 for £15, 4 for £19 or 5 for £23. The Lunch n Later menu ranged from £5 upto £8.50 but that doesn't include side plates. If you want to add fries, rice or salad to your meal you order a side plate separately. Pick any 2 for £5.40, 3 for £8, 4 for £10 or 5 for £12.
We would definitely visit Turtle Bay again. It had a great atmosphere and I think next time we may do a date night so we can have some cheeky cocktails too.

We were invited to Turtle Bay to try out the new kids menu. All thoughts, opinions and photographs are our own.
