John has been talking for some time now about getting a tattoo. He only wants a subtle one on his lower arm near his wrist. He wants the black flag logo from the game Assassins Creed. He has asked my opinion and I have been very honest in saying that tattoos are not for me but it's his body and if he wants one then he should go ahead and get one. Times have moved on with regards to tattoos and they are not for life anymore. If you change your mind you can have laser tattoo removal done. I think knowing that this is available is making a tattoo more appealing to John right now.
Pulse Light Clinic offers laser tattoo removal and I think it's good to know that if you have a tattoo that you don't want, it can be removed. I have friends who have tattoos and they love them and are more than happy to still have them when they are older. I also have friends who said it was a mistake and want them removed. The process for having a tattoo removed using lasers seems pretty straightforward. During the treatment, the laser will be focused over the tattoo with some cool air blowing. The practitioner will take the laser over the tattoo a few times and you may see the tattoo turn white or red. Traditional lasers have been around for a while but the newer PicoSure & PicoWay lasers are a breakthrough in laser tattoo removal. The tattoo will then be wrapped in gauze and you will be given aftercare advice.
I like to think I have a high pain threshold but the thought of a tattoo gives me goosebumps. I read that getting your tattoo removed is more like discomfort rather than pain. Some have likened it to being pinged with an elastic band.
If you considering have your tattoo removed then there are some of the benefits of Picosure & PicoWay laser tattoo removal
Less painful treatments
Effective on all colours of the tattoo, even greens, and blues
They use photo-mechanical principles as opposed to photo-thermal alone, combined with ultra-short pulses, called pico-seconds (one trillionth of a second) to shatter the ink into minute particles which your body then eliminates itself. Requiring less heat and less energy means that the surrounding tissue is left unharmed and the space between treatment can be much shorter too.
The average time to have a tattoo removed using lasers is 4-8 treatments approx. Treatments are done with gaps of 4-8 weeks between appointments. This varies depending on the tattoo, as it depends on ink type, colour and skin type. How long you have had the tattoo and where about the tattoo is can also affect the time scale.
I'm not sure whether John will go ahead with his tattoo but I will definitely keep you posted.
