Dining Out | The Ring O Bells, Warrington

Have you ever walked in somewhere and got a good feeling about it straight away? I have a few times and one of those times was recently when we went for a pub lunch at Ring O Bells in Warrington. We were invited along to sample the menu and take a look at the pub which is soon to celebrate it's 1 year anniversary under new ownership.

When we arrived we were shown to our table which was by a gorgeous log fire. The pub has a real cosy and warm feeling about it. There was only one other table occupied when we arrived however that wasn't the case by the time we left, it was very busy.

The waitress took our drinks order and she was so friendly and was chatting to little J, making him smile.

Whilst we waited for our drinks we browsed the menu. Everything sounded amazing. Even though it was lunch time we did opt for three starters between the four of us.

The portion sizes were huge and more than enough for the 4 of us. We chose potato skins with cheese and bacon, garlic bread and nachos.

The food was amazing and I really liked the presentation too.

We asked for little J's meal to come with the starters. He is really fussy when it comes to food and takes a long time to eat. He ordered pizza, chips and beans and again the portion size was huge, amazing value for money.

We have been to restaurants and pubs before who offer pizza on the kids menu and it's usually a Chicago Town pizza that they've microwaved, calling it a squidgy pizza. This wasn't. It was decent sized thin based cheese and tomato pizza.

John and big J ordered the same main meal. It was a burger, chicken breast, bacon and egg on a bun with chips. It was actually the biggest burger I have ever seen. How they ate it I will never know, but I suppose if it tastes so good you don't want to waste it.

I was more sensible with my choice as it was only lunchtime and we had already had starters. I ordered a tuna and cheese melt on brown bloomer bread. It came with chips too. The chips are really delicious they are not like normal fries they are more chunky and taste amazing.

There's more to Ring O Bells than just a pub. Upstairs they have a function room and have many events on throughout the year. The day we went they were hosting a Halloween party that night with a DJ too.

If you have brought the kids along for a meal at the Ring O Bells they will be happy to learn that there is a family room upstairs too. It has a selection of toys and games, a TV and even an XBOX. Something to keep the kids busy while you wait for food.

The outside beer garden area is very spacious and although no one was sat out while we were there because it was very cold and wet, I can imagine it to get pretty busy in the Summer months.

There is a small play area which little J enjoyed, especially the swing.

Overall our experience at the Ring O Bells was amazing. It has a lovely welcoming feel to it. The staff were very friendly and not just to us. They have a lovely relationship with their regulars that was   very obvious right from the moment we walked in.

We are already planning our next visit and considering trying their afternoon tea.

You can find The Ring O Bells on Facebook for more information including their upcoming events.
