The Rollplay Nighthawk is designed for children over the age of 6 years old but does have a maximum weight of 50kgs. It can reach speeds of up to 12km/h.
Little J was eager to try it out but it does have to be charged up first for 12 hours (especially on it's first charge) so that we can enjoy it's maximum play time of up to 1 hour.
When we took it out the box there was no assembly necessary, it comes as one large piece. The only thing we had to do was fit the flag and pop on charge.
The Nighthawk has two pedals one for the gas and one to brake. You sit on the Nighthawk and steering is all down to balance. Lean to the left and you will go left, lean to the right and you will go right.
At first little J was too nervous to put his foot down on the gas pedal in case he shot off really quickly so for the first 15 mins or so he just took his time getting used to the steering. He started off on the grass. I actually thought the balance and coordination needed may be a problem for him, but after a bit of practice he mastered it in the end.
Our garden isn't very big so for us we took the nighthawk to the park. It is easy enough to pop in the car. It is quite heavy so I wouldn't want to be carrying it for long once we got there but luckily where we parked the car there was a huge space for him to practice.
We have taken the Rollplay Nighthawk out for a spin 3 times so far and every time the charge has lasted just under the hour which is more than enough time to have a good play on it. On the second and third charge it does indicate that it's charged after 6 - 8 hours, so we just removed it from charge then and it has been fine.
Little J absolutely loves the Nighthawk and although learning to manoeuvre it didn't come naturally to him, he has enjoyed mastering it. We are actually planning another trip the park this evening when its a little quieter as little J is really keen to reach full speed with it now.
The Rollplay Nighthawk currently has a RRP of £170 and comes in red or white. Helmet, knee and arms pads are recommended and can be purchased separately.
