Disclosure - We were invited along to Game Over to try out the Squid Game Escape Room. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
If you are a regular reader you know we absolutely love Escape Rooms. We have quite a few Escape Rooms in Liverpool all offering a great experience and perfect for visiting as a family, with friends or as a couple. Up until recently it's always been a thing John and I did together, however little J is now very keen to take part and has been joining in with us. Even as a three we still have a 100% escape record and we were hoping that would continue when we tried a new venue Game Over.

Checking In
When we arrived we were greeted by two members of staff who welcomed us and asked what room we were here to complete. Once we informed them of the room we were shown the toilets and also a locker to keep our jackets and phones. We were then given our costume to wear.
Squid Game
Do you think you have failed at your life? Do you think, you have lost everything and there is no space for a comeback? I know your secret desire … You love gambling… I will give you one last chance… You will receive a mysterious invitation to participate in a survival game. If you make it till the end, you will win a huge amount of money, more than you ever have imagined. The game is going to take place on an isolated island and you will be locked up until there is a final winner. The choice is yours!
Both members of staff then showed us to our room where they gave us the brief for the game. The brief was very long and we soon realised that Squid Game was more like a game than an escape room. She told us all the different challenges we would face ahead so there was no surprise element to this room as we were told everything before we began. The first few challenges we would need to work together however on the last challenge it was every man for himself and the winner would be the first to escape.
Our game host told us she would be watching and listening and if we needed help all we needed to do was shout. We then had 45 minutes to escape however there are opportunities for you to lose time.
Squid Game has a difficulty rating of 3 out of 5 and before we went inside we had a plan that we would all work together so we didn't become overwhelmed with too many clues however this isn't your typical lock and key type escape room so our plan was rubbish.
Without giving away any spoilers the room is made up of puzzles and challenges to complete. There are no locks, keys, codes to find. You have to work together to survive each challenge however in the last room you need to be quick and first to escape to win.
Throughout the experience our game host was on hand to offer any help and guidance which we did more that once.
Our Thoughts
We absolutely loved it. I think for us it was nice to see little J get involved as he was able to join in with every part of the room and wasn't left to watch us as we solved clues like he does in some escape rooms. He was engaged throughout and understood the instructions better than we did at times. He actually said it was his favourite room he's ever done.
I cannot fault our game hosts, they were extremely friendly and patient with us and little J even got sweets at the end.
So all you need to know now is who escaped first and won? It was me and I was so proud of myself. My 100% escape record is still intact.
