The North West definitely gets in to the spooky spirit with so many Manchester Halloween events to enjoy. Halloween in the City, Manchester City Centre from October 25th 2023


Mark the arrival of Halloween with a host of monstrously good events across Manchester city centre.

Featuring a giant rooftop monster invasion, Monsters Rock! Music Festival with spooky DJs, live performances, gruesome games and competitions, plus carnival rides, fancy-dress and Walk the Plank’s legendary monster procession.

MCR Monsters

A monster music festival takes over the city with spooky DJs, live performances, gruesome games, competitions, carnival rides and monster portaloos.

Team Trick v Team Treat Challenge

Are you Team Trick or Team Treat? Come to Halloween in the City in your best fancy dress outfit, pick a side and take part in a host of gruesome games to win points for your team.

Head to the Main Stage in Exchange Square at 4pm each day to see which team is crowned the winner.

Follow an immersive trail to help the Sea Witch keep her fellow sea creatures safe and look after the ocean. Complete the ‘spook-splash-tastic’ challenges to join Serafina’s army of Sea Defenders.

Help the Sea Witch save the seas and discover the amazing tricks of sea creatures and earn yourself some Halloween Treats. Enjoy cool photo opportunities and visit the pumpkin patch.

Have lots of fun on the activity trail and face the challenges throughout the aquarium. Take part in  visual games and activities, make your own spooky shark hat and if that's not enough make sure you pick up your reward for completion.

Brick Or Treat at Legoland Discovery Centre, Trafford Centre, M17 8EH from 23rd September - 31st October 2023

Brick or Treat returns to Legoland Discovery Centre with lots of Spook-Tacular activities for all the family. 

Watch the LEGO 4D Movie ‘The Great Monster Chase’, build your own LEGO pumpkin and help us make a spooky monster garden. Take part in the ‘Scarevenger’ hunt  in a haunted Miniland. What will you find?

Meet and greet with our character mascots – Scarecrow and Lord Vampyre. Bring your best monster moves and join them for a Halloween dance party

Spin our spooky wheel of fortune; will you get a trick or a treat? Photo opportunities for the whole family

Brick or Treat Monster Party activities take place on weekends and in school holidays from 23rd to 31st October.

There’s a fa-boo-lous feast for families at Hard Rock Cafe Manchester this Halloween, with the return of the hugely popular Lil' Monster’s Ball - guaranteed to raise the spirits. 

Parents and their little monsters can head on over to the restaurant on Saturday 28th October between 8:30am and 10:30am to feast on the all-American breakfast buffet and later enjoy fiendishly fun family entertainment including face-painting, ghoulish games and more. Creepy costumes are advised!

Enjoy the Maize Maze where some of the festival staff and visitors have got lost in the maze - Can you help find them and find your way out?

There are 7 scarecrows hidden in the maze – each one has a name on which you fill into the spaces on the puzzle card to complete the challenge

The maze takes about 1 hr and over halloween you can enjoy the Live Boo Crew too.

Head to Smithills Open Farm for a Halloween Special. A spooky sweet hunt, farm staff in fancy dress and a farm decorated for Halloween. Join in with their Children’s fancy dress competition for the chance to win.

All activities for the Halloween Special are suitable for children of all ages and is included in Farm Admission.

Halloween Ghost Trains, East Lancashire Railway BL9 0EY from Thursday 26th October - Saturday 28th October 2023

There's spooky fun this Halloween at The East Lanchasire Railway. Take a walk through the Haunted House over the ghoulishly decorated footbridge at Bury and meet with the friendly fiends of the ELR Monster Squad like Bob the Zombie and Count Brian the Vampire.

Hop on board for an 80-minute steam train ride from Bury to Rawtenstall and back with spooky entertainment and music along the route. There's a goody bag for every child full of tricks and treats.

Carn-Evil, Bury Transport Museum BL9 0EY from Thursday 26th October - Saturday 28th October 2023


Buckle up and boogie over to the Boo-ry Transport Museum for the Carn-Evil. There will be a host of theme park rides that are sure to put the fear of fun into you!

Alongside the rides there will also be a spooktacular show, filled with even more colourful characters, taking place at regular intervals and including a disco, magic show and fancy dress competition with prizes! Your ticket gets you access to all the attractions at the museum, and it’s all family friendly, with rides for all ages.

Open from 4pm until 9pm, you can go before or after your Halloween train experience, it’s entirely up to you and whatever fits in with your evening and train departure time.

The Wizarding Adventure, East Lancashire Railway BL9 0EY from Friday 27th October 2023

It’s time to sign up to our spellbinding school of sorcery as you take a wacky and wonderful whistle stop tour of the Wizard Academy and learn to become a master of mystery and magic.

Hop on board a return trip from Bury to Rawtenstall hauled by a genuine steam (and spell) powered train and enjoy a hour and a half wizarding experience with the region’s most pre-eminent enchanters.

There will also be plenty of photo opportunities.
