Getting out and about with your family is a hugely important thing to do, and you should try to fit it in - or, even better, prioritise it - as much as possible. There are, of course, a few things that can make a day out with the family even better, and one of these, perhaps surprisingly, is a fitness tracker.
These devices don’t only help you stay active, but they can also help you bond as a family because you can set goals to work towards together, for example, plus they can even help you stay in touch, just in case someone gets lost. With that in mind, here are some things to consider when you’re choosing a good fitness tracker for a family day out.
Find A User-Friendly Design
When you’re looking for a fitness tracker, you’ll need to search out a user-friendly design and make this one of the first things you look for when you’re working out what tracker is going to work best for you.
If you’re using the device as a family, you’ll want to make sure everyone can use it and understand it, so look for things like an easy-to-read screen, easy navigation, and comfortable wristbands (that are adjustable). You can even find models that are specifically designed for kids, so if you don’t intend to wear your fitness tracker other than when you’re out with the family, that could be a good idea too.
Read Reviews
It’s also really useful to read reviews of the various makes and models you might consider buying. When you do this, you can compare a few different designs and functions and see what other people thought of the different fitness trackers on the market.
Even if a review is a little older, it’s still worth reading through, as the information will generally still be correct. For example, this review of Garmin's Vivoactive 3 is a few years old, but it will still give you plenty of information, and it might even save you money because buying an older model will usually be cheaper than a newer one, and if it’s got all the functions you need, it’s a bargain.
Durability
Some days out will be peaceful and quiet, and that’s great, but some will be loud and busy and active. This is also wonderful, and important, but these days can take their toll on your equipment, from bags to shoes and much more, so it’s wise to think about durability when you’re choosing things to take out with you.
That’s important for your fitness tracker as well, so when you’re starting your search, you’ll need to check how durable each option is. Depending on what you and your family like to do and where you go, it can also be a good idea to look for a water-resistant version, just to be on the safe side - the last thing you’ll want to do is find a great fitness tracker that does everything you want it to do, but that breaks as soon as it gets wet.
