Staying At Profilhotels Mercur, Copenhagen

Isn't it so stressful booking a hotel when you're travelling to a new city for the first time. I usually start by having a handful of browsers open at the same time flicking between hotels.com, booking.com and trip advisor whilst comparing costs, reading reviews and basically feeling overwhelmed. The first thing I usually look for is a hotel in the city centre and start from there. When planning a city break to Copenhagen, Profilhotels Mercur popped up as a suitable choice for us with an amazing location, the ability to fit 3 adults and 1 child in a room and the reviews were good too.

Location

Profilhotels Mercur’s location was one of strongest features for us. The hotel is located in the Vesterbro district and just a short walk from Copenhagen Central Station, making it exceptionally accessible for those arriving by train or from the airport. When we left Copenhagen Central Station it was just 5 minutes until we reached the hotel.

We found most things were within walking distance should you prefer. Tivoli Gardens was just a 5 minute walk, The Round Tower was a 15 minute walk and should you wish to continue to the picturesque Nyhavn canal that would take you a further 10 minutes. For those interested in cultural experiences, the National Museum and the Copenhagen City Museum are conveniently close, providing enriching activities just a stone’s throw away.

King Room for Four

As I mentioned earlier Profilhotels Mercur has rooms that are suitable for our family of 3 adults and 1 child. The King Room at Profilhotels Mercur is designed to accommodate families or small groups, and it certainly lived up to expectations. As we entered, we were greeted by the largest hotel room we have ever seen. The room features a large king-sized bed, complemented by two additional single beds, which are ideal for families just like us.

The beds are separated by a small wall. It wasn't another bedroom as such but definitely made us all feel like we had our own space.

As well as the beds there were two cosy chairs, a table, a work chair, desk, and the biggest window ever! It was huge and let in so much light and a nice view too.

Other amenities in the room include 2 flat-screen TVs, a mini-fridge and if you want to do a mini workout before you start your day you can use the 'weights' provided.

There’s also so much storage space, including wardrobes and drawers, ensuring that guests have enough room to unpack and settle in comfortably.

I know I keep using the words largest, biggest and huge but the bathroom was the same! It features a walk-in shower, which is always a plus for convenience. The provided toiletries are of good quality, and the hotel’s attention to cleanliness is evident throughout. Additionally, the room is well-insulated, ensuring that external noise does not disrupt the peace and quiet of your stay.

The room got a 10/10 from us and we had a very pleasant 3 nights / 4 day stay.

I know not every family is like ours and you may require a different room but if other rooms are of the same standard you won't be disappointed.

Breakfast

Reviews online all say the same that breakfast at Profilhotels Mercur is a highlight and an excellent way to start the day. The hotel offers a generous buffet spread that caters to a wide range of tastes and dietary preferences. The breakfast area is bright and airy, providing a pleasant environment to enjoy your morning meal.

The buffet includes a selection of fresh pastries, bread, and croissants. There was always a wide variety of flavours including chocolate, custard or just plain. For those who like a substantial breakfast, there are options such as scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages. Additionally, the buffet features a variety of cold meats, cheeses, and fresh fruits, catering to different tastes and dietary requirements.

For health-conscious guests, there is an assortment of yogurts, cereals, and granola, as well as a range of juices and hot beverages.  I also started my day with a 'ginger' shot which gave me a little kickstart.

The overall ambiance during breakfast is relaxed and enjoyable, making it a pleasant part of the stay at Profilhotels Mercur.
