Stick Man Trail At Delamere Forest

We love exploring the great outdoors as a family, and one of our favourite places to visit is Delamere Forest. Over the years, we’ve completed many Forestry England trails including The Gruffalo, Zog and Superworm all of which have been fantastic ways to combine adventure, learning, and outdoor fun. Now, we’re excited to hear that the Stick Man Trail is returning to Forestry England sites in 2025 – and we can’t wait to visit our local forest, Delamere.

Running from February 2025 to January 2026, the Stick Man Trail will be hosted at 26 forests across England, offering families the chance to embark on an exciting outdoor adventure. Based on the much-loved picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, this immersive trail follows Stick Man on his journey back to the family tree. Along the way, little explorers will discover nine interactive activity panels and six spotter panels, each designed to encourage hands-on learning and fun.

Why We Can’t Wait to Visit

Having previously enjoyed the Forestry England, Gruffalo, Zog and Superworm Trails at Delamere Forest, we know just how magical these themed adventures can be. They bring our favourite storybook characters to life while encouraging children to explore and connect with nature. The Stick Man Trail is another fantastic opportunity to get outdoors, burn off some energy, and make lasting family memories. Plus, with February half term just around the corner, it’s the ideal time for a fun-filled day in the forest!

Exploring Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest is one of our go-to destinations for outdoor family fun. Nestled in the heart of Cheshire, it offers a vast network of walking and cycling trails, making it perfect for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing woodland stroll or a more adventurous hike, there’s something for everyone. The well-marked paths make navigation easy, and there are plenty of spots to pause and take in the stunning surroundings.

One of the highlights of Delamere is the Lakeside Café, where you can grab a hot drink or a bite to eat after exploring the trails. There are also picnic areas throughout the forest, making it ideal for bringing your own food and enjoying a meal outdoors. For those who love cycling, Delamere offers bike hire facilities, allowing visitors to explore the forest on two wheels. Additionally, there’s a Go Ape treetop adventure course, which is perfect for thrill-seekers looking for an extra challenge.

The visitor centre provides useful information about the forest, upcoming events, and wildlife spotting tips. Parking is ample, with a pay-and-display system in place. There are also accessible routes available, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the beauty of Delamere Forest, regardless of mobility.
